A perched village 10km from Nice, on a hill of olive and fig trees, with pastel trompe-l'œil lanes that even many people from Nice don't know about.

Once a stronghold of carnation growing, Falicon has kept its spiral layout behind its ramparts, its vaulted passages and its baroque façades painted in trompe-l'œil. The writer Jules Romains set part of his "Douceur de la vie" here and was a regular at the former restaurant on the Plateau Bellevue, from where the view plunges down over Nice and the Bay of Angels — a spot no tour coach ever climbs to.
